Who are we?
The Leduc Arts Foundry is a volunteer-based non-profit arts organization that works collaboratively with arts groups to serve as a catalyst for artists and arts organizations.
Leduc Art Walk
We are the hosts of the Leduc Art Walk, which has been running annually in July since 2017. This one day event fills mainstreet Leduc with over 90 artists, and sees an average of 7K+ event attendees. Not only can locals shop from & support local artists, but they have an opportunity to try out mediums such as pottery, rug hooking, painting and improv, in our free activity centre.
What we do
We provide affordable access to inclusive creative spaces, tools and quality art classes & workshops that stimulate and nurture diverse artistic and cultural development. Our gallery displays a new local artist(s) each month, and our workshop space is utilized artists of all kinds, such as painters, potters, quilters, sculptors, writers and musicians.
The Leduc Arts Foundry works closely with our City of Leduc and the various art groups residing within it. We house multiple tenant groups, such as the Leduc Art Club and Thad’s M.I.L.L, a Musical Instrument Lending Library, of the Thaddeus Lake Music Foundation. We also offer Free programming every single Tuesday! Artists can join us for Community Drop-in, Youth Drop-in, and Open Mic night hosted by the Melisizwe Brothers, all completely free. We also have multiple community partnerships with organizations and groups such as the Maclab Centre for the Performing Arts, Phoenix Advertising and Marketing, Riseup Society Alberta, Leduc LINX Connect Centre and more! We are dedicated to providing a safe and inclusive space for all to come and create.
As a historically agricultural centre the artistic community in Leduc has not always had an opportunity to find its roots or had a space to gather. The Leduc Arts Foundry identified the need to bring artists and art organizations into a space where they could grow in their own community and enrich the surrounding community. In 2017 a group of local artists came together and created the Leduc Arts Foundry, a centre and community for the arts in Leduc, that would allow the sharing of resources as different stages of growth are realized between different user groups. In 2021 we opened the doors to our first facility.
T hanks to our generous sponsors, donors, and municipal and provincial funding, we have grown into a flourishing arts facility which is a combined art gallery and workshop space. We have already outgrown that first space and we have opened the doors to our second satellite space! Our programming and art offerings are as diverse as the community members we serve, and we strive to always keep offering a wide array of arts and cultural opportunities. We believe the arts a strong a medium for healing, education, connection, growth and expression.
How does your donation help us?
Your support helps us to continue to provide free programming on Tuesdays, as well as expand the arts and culture experiences we are offer in Leduc. We can meet more niche needs of particular user groups that we are not currently set up to support, and give back to our community. We are looking to start a pottery studio in Leduc, as well as an artisan store/gallery featuring local artists and makers. Your donations will help to offset costs of new equipment such as POS systems, shelving, pottery materials & wheels, art supplies and so much more.
