World Down Syndrome Day 2026 #TogetherAgainstLoneliness
Help us double our impact by March 21 -
World Down Syndrome Day
Everyone feels lonely sometimes. But for many people with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities, loneliness is a more common and painful experience. Loneliness is not just a sad feeling. It is bad for our health and happiness. It can make people feel anxious or depressed. It can also harm physical health.
At EDSS we're committed to improving the lives of those born with Down syndrome. With your support, we can create a more caring school, workplace and community when we take time to learn more about the ability and look past the disability.
Every day, we see the impact of our programs and services on individuals and families with a child born with Down syndrome. Our focus is to support those facing adversity and help them thrive.
But we can't do it alone. We need your help to continue to learn about inequities that exist, support people better, train our staff and volunteers and bring more community resources to our families.
For each dollar donated by March 21, the Government of Alberta will match your dollar up to $5,000 .
By joining us in this campaign, you'll be part of something bigger than yourself—a movement for positive change and social impact.
Loneliness happens when people are not supported by
building and maintaining connections with other
people.
Sometimes, people with Down syndrome can be in the same
room as others but still feel lonely. Being present is not the same
as being included.
This World Down Syndrome Day 2026, let’s stand #TogetherAgainstLoneliness, build connection, inclusion and belonging for people born with Down syndrome.
We want to know #WhyICare so reach out -- tell us your story about "Why I Care" using our social media channels.
Together, we can help one person born with Down syndrome at a time to succeed and thrive. Join us today and be a catalyst for change. Together, we can build a brighter future for all.
Thank you for your generosity and support. 💛
