The Alberta Music Education Foundation (AMEF) is a registered charity providing funding and innovative ideas for music education in your community.

Your support will help fund the AMEF to provide funding, ideas, and resources to Alberta's community music students and teachers.
One of the great programs offered by AMEF is the Keyboards for Kids.
Keyboards for Kids has offered hundreds of at-risk children across Alberta for over 25 years the opportunity to participate in piano lessons (in participating schools or community centres) during their lunch hour, during school or after school thanks to the dedicated support of volunteer teachers. Our goal is to provide free music instruction in the area of piano to interested, at-risk or disadvantaged youth and to enhance personal characteristics such as self-esteem, creativity, self-discipline and personal expression so that the students can become noble and caring citizens of their community and better overall students.
What began with cardboard keyboards, in turn through donations and corporate sponsorship, has become real keyboards loaned to students to take home and practice and a chance for any child wanting to learn an opportunity and a gift. This amazing program provides free 45 minute group lesson instruction and keyboards, as well as some one-on-one private instruction from fantastic volunteers (too many to name here so please check out our website to see the names of the wonderful schools/teachers where this program happens, some of whom have been volunteering for over 20 years!)
Keyboards for Kids has touched the lives of hundreds of kids and continues today to make a huge difference in their lives thanks in part to the support of the Alberta Registered Music Teachers, AMEF, Conservatory Canada, all our sponsors and the countless volunteers. The passion, dedication, and perseverance of all involved is truly inspirational.
