For just $20, you can help financially disadvantaged youth in the Leduc area continue their music education.

$20 may seem small, but it has a significant impact on the lives of the kids we support. There is no limit to the donations we can accept, nor any cap on how much you can contribute.

Our goal with this online fundraiser is to raise $3,000 by May 28, 2025. If we meet this target, the Alberta Government will match it with 50% funding, up to $5,000! Donations can continue to be accepted after the fundraiser period, but only those made by May 28 will qualify for the matching funds. If we receive match funding for our $3000 goal we'll be able to assist 9 local youth pursue their musical journey.

About the Thaddeus Lake Music Foundation

Founded in 2011, the Thaddeus Lake Music Foundation is a nonprofit organization serving Leduc and the surrounding area. Our mission is to provide access to music education for youth, regardless of their financial background.

Thad's Foundation was created in honour of our namesake, Thaddeus "Thad" Lake, who was tragically killed at 22 by drunk driver. Thad loved music deeply and dreamt of helping others experience the same joy he found in it. Just weeks before his passing, he discussed with his mother the idea of starting a nonprofit to help kids learn music, regardless of their family's financial situation.

How We Help

We are committed to providing youth (ages 7 to 22) access to music education and opportunities, regardless of their financial situation. We focus on serving eligible youth in Leduc and the surrounding areas, and disburse an average of $12K to $15K annually. Here's how we help make music more accessible:

• Fund music lessons and provide music books.
• Cover music exam and competition fees.
• Offer long-term instrument loans.
• Partner with the Leduc Boys & Girls Club to provide music lessons in piano, guitar, and drums.
• Award the Thaddeus Lake Showmanship Award at the Leduc Music Festival to three pianists in junior, intermediate, and senior levels.

We also run Thad’s Musical Instrument Lending Library (Thad’s M.I.L.L), offering Leduc County residents the ability to borrow instruments for a low yearly fee of $20. Thad’s M.I.L.L is located at the Leduc Arts Foundry, inside the Leduc Recreation Centre.

How You Can Help

We're aiming to raise $3000 by May 28, 2025, which will make us eligible for 50% match funding, up to $5000. We can continue to accept donations after this period. If we exceed our $3,000 goal, any extra donations will go toward further supporting music lessons and related program fees for our recipients.
