Spinal Cord Injury Alberta hasn't added a story.

A spinal cord injury can happen to anyone, any time, anywhere, any place.

All it takes is a moment for your life to be forever changed. When you experience a spinal cord injury or any other physical disability it means facing a shift, in your entire existence.

The impact of losing mobility is significant for individuals affecting their well being, overall health and independence. It throws them into a reality that they never expected.

By contributing to SCI-AB you enable persons with a spinal cord injury to receive support from Client Service Coordinators. These coordinators assess each client’s unique needs and then together with the client, connect them with essential resources like food and healthcare.

The future for anyone with an SCI following discharge from a hospital may be uncertain. One thing is clear; with the support of SCI-ABs Client Services program, individuals will adapt to a new way of being, they will learn to adjust to their new reality and find their place in the world and ultimately thrive.

Your donation makes a difference in the lives of people with an SCI:

Funds raised through this Crowdfunder Campaign will support the Client Service and Coordination Program.

$25 will provide sweetgrass for an indigenous client. Smudging is a cultural ceremony practiced by a wide variety of Indigenous people in Canada and is also associated with healing practices and promoting over-all well-being.

$125 – incontinence supplies for two weeks. Patients with spinal cord injuries often require specialized incontinence supplies to manage bladder and bowel issues. These supplies, ranging from catheters to protective undergarments, play a crucial role in maintaining dignity and comfort for individuals navigating the challenges of incontinence due to spinal cord injury.

$250 - SCI is an expensive injury. Many people don’t have access to the money they need to support them throughout their lives. The government does not provide adequate support to persons with a SCI. We step in to provide funding for non-government funded medical supplies.

$500 – 20 resilience kits. SCI-AB maintains an active presence in the hospitals to meet with newly injured people. Upon discharge, patients are provided with resilience kits, with each kit consisting of items such as tote bag, cup holder, Allan keys, cooling towel etc.

When you choose to donate, you'll get a handwritten thank you note in addition to regular updates about the progress our clients are making.

So, how can you help?

  1. Donate! - Hit that donate button and give someone with an SCI the opportunity to thrive.
  2. Share – your impact is so much greater than what you can give .. it’s about who you inspire.

All donations are eligible for a tax receipt and are received with great appreciation.

Gifts made through this platform will be eligible to receive 50% match funding, up to a maximum of $2,500 from the Government of Alberta.

Please share this campaign with your friends and family to maximize your impact. Thank you!

Provide a description of the underlying problem or situation you want to improve with funding. Explain why this issue is important and what negative effects it currently has on people, the environment or your community.
  2. What is your solution?
Describe your plan to address the problem and highlight what makes your approach unique or effective.
  3. How will the funds be used?
Outline how the money will be allocated to specific programs, resources or services.
  4. How will contributions make a tangible difference?
Explain the benefits and positive changes resulting from your project being funded. If appropriate, also explain how the lives of beneficiaries will be impacted.
  5. How will you keep supporters involved in your campaign?
Detail how you will provide updates on progress, share stories on the impact of contributions and keep supporters connected to the project.
