significant community support demonstrated on Crowdfunding Alberta.
Campaigns that reach 75 percent of their campaign goal within four

Basics and Belonging for Back to School
There is nothing easy about heading back to school. Now imagine starting a new school, in a new country or after a life-changing event. We are here to support Calgary teen girls in need, providing them with confidence, excitement, and purpose.
My Best Friend’s Closet is a youth empowerment program for teenage girls that provides high-quality and on-trend clothing, shoes, and accessories to IN-NEED youth for their school and recreational needs. Not only does this allow girls to start their school on the right foot, but also gives them support throughout the year to continue being their best.
How My Best Friend’s Closet Works
Each girl receives a 90-minute session with a peer/near-peer stylist to help them choose clothing and accessories that fits their body and style, and gives them what they need for school, to try out for teams, to apply for part-time work. Ultimately, it gives teen girls the confidence to build a life in Calgary, and a future they can feel excited about.
Every teenage girl in need – whether new to Calgary or low income – is eligible for two sessions in their lifetime. They leave their session with a wardrobe including pants, tops, dresses, gym clothes, shoes, bras, jackets, backpacks, personal hygiene products, jewelry (approximately 28 items in total). For 90-minutes they get to “shop” in our boutique without worry about judgement, isolation, or cost.
