Thousands of animals that are
injured, orphaned, or infected with deadly viruses such as
parvovirus and distemper are at risk of dying each year in First
Nations communities.
Affordable veterinary care is not readily available to many of these communities and they often reach out for support from organizations outside of their community for help.
The CAWS believes there is an overpopulation of pets, regardless of the community, and that all animals deserve freedom from pain, injury or disease by prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment.
The CAWS has built strong partnerships with members of First Nations communities near Edmonton and compassionate veterinary clinics throughout the Greater Edmonton area. We work together and are committed to helping and saving the lives of as many animals as is both medically possible and fiscally responsible; utilizing euthanasia as a last resort.
Our average veterinary expenses are $10,000 per month.
Every animal that comes into our
care receives
primary lifesaving veterinary care including a
health and wellness exam, vaccinations for distemper, parvovirus,
and rabies, deworming, is spayed or neutered and microchipped.
Diagnostics performed, if needed, include but are not limited to parvo testing, blood work, x-rays, and ultrasounds.
Any animal that requires specialized care or surgeries such as dental care, bone repair, eye surgeries, etc. are scheduled and completed as quickly as possible.
Your donation of $25 provides one week's food for a dog or cat in recovery.
Your donation of $50 provides a puppy or kitten with a lifesaving set of vaccines.
Your donation of $75 provides one week's supply of milk supplement for an orphaned litter of puppies or kittens.
Your donation of $100 provides a senior dog or cat with a blood panel that helps us to determine the health of liver and kidney functions.
Your donation of $250 helps to control the animal population by providing a spay/neuter surgery.
When you donate, you will also be
subscribed to regular updates of the animals whose lives you have
helped save. We want you to see the successful and
life altering impact of your donation with timely
communications on their progress. Without your support, many of
