Building Community and Growing the Sport

Introduction: In the heart of Riel lies a community bonded by the love of rugby. Our non-profit club is an example of teamwork, resilience, and growth for players of all ages and backgrounds. However, like any grassroots organization, we face challenges in sustaining and expanding our programs.

The Problem: Our facility is over 40 years old and every year the list of work needed grows longer. Balancing limited funds between repairs, improvements and renovations can be a challenging task. We have been able to manage and complete the larger work over the years through the support of local and provincial government grants but the pandemic was not kind to our organization and it has left work on the back burner.

The Solution: The only way to address this problem is through fundraising, sponsorship and growing our programs. We have not returned to our pre-pandemic levels and the only way we can get there is by growing our capacity as an organization. Our clubhouse is an incredible resource to help grow our club and provide a year-round venue for community and club events but it needs to be maintained.

How to Help: We're hoping that through the Government of Alberta crowdfunding initiative we can drive new funds into our organization from supporters and through the matching grant. By incentivizing support and providing value for our contributors we are hopeful that you will see the benefit in supporting us and in return we hope to deliver a clubhouse experience and programs that continue to exceed your expectations going forward.

What Supporters Receive: With this fundraiser we are aiming to raise $5,000 with an addition 50% matching amount of $2,500 from the Government of Alberta. In return for your support we have a trio of SARFC hats available: The 2024 Bucket Hat, The 2024 SnapBack Hat & The 2025 Weekender Hat.
