What’s Happening?

We’re hosting the first international Yosakoi dance festival in North America—and it’s happening right here in Lethbridge, Alberta, on September 27–28, 2025.

Yosakoi is a high-energy, joyful Japanese dance that brings people together. It’s fun, inclusive, and exciting to watch.

In Japan, over 200 Yosakoi festivals are held every year, bringing tens of thousands of people together across the country. But there has never been a large-scale Yosakoi festival in North America—until now.

Why This Matters

Over 150 dancers from Canada, the U.S., and Japan will gather in Lethbridge for a weekend of performances, food, culture, and fun.

This will be:

• The biggest Japanese cultural festival Lethbridge has ever seen

• A chance for Albertans to experience Japanese culture up close

• A boost for local businesses and tourism in Lethbridge

• The first step in our 10-year plan to grow Yosakoi across Canada

What We Need

We have volunteers and some funding, but we need your help to make this event amazing.

Your donation will help us pay for:

• Travel and accommodation for performers

• Stage and sound equipment

• Free workshops and family activities

• Promotion and event setup

  • $100 donation
     You will receive an original festival T-shirt.

  • $300 donation
     You will receive an original festival T-shirt and a pair of naruko (traditional wooden clappers).

  • $500 donation
     You will receive a T-shirt, naruko, an original hoodie, and an invitation to our team celebration party.

  • $1,000 or more
     You will receive all of the above, plus your name listed as a supporter in the official event program and on our website.

  • $5,000 or more
     In addition to all previous rewards, your logo will be included as a sponsor at the event venue and in promotional materials.

  • $10,000 or more
     All of the above plus VIP seating and an opportunity to meet the performers.
