Our Purpose: With the strength of our volunteers, we deliver essential resources, assist with system navigation, and advocate for those affected by homelessness, working towards a lasting solution.

Our Commitment: BeTheChangeYYC operates every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday from 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM, and Saturday from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, we traverse the streets and hidden corners of Calgary. We remain available on evenings, holidays, and weekends to fill the gaps left by other services.

Through our street outreach initiatives, we engage with individuals facing homelessness, providing critical supplies such as food, water, clothing, hygiene products, harm reduction supplies, and light medical assistance. Our goal is to forge meaningful connections with those without housing, enabling us to offer valuable program referrals that include access to housing lists, detox services, mental health support, shelters, and more—ultimately working towards ending homelessness in Calgary.

As one of the pioneering street outreach teams, we began our journey over nine years ago in 2015, inspired by the lived experiences of our founder, Chaz Smith. After experiencing homelessness himself, Chaz went on to work in the field, eventually launching this initiative from his home in Dover, SE Calgary. Our current headquarters is situated in downtown Calgary, at the back of SORCe. Here, we collaborate not only with individuals experiencing homelessness but also with our partners to foster long-term collaboration and coordination aimed at effectively serving the homeless population in Calgary. As our name suggests, we invite everyone to take action and: Be The Change.
