Government of Alberta is providing top-up funding for campaigns with
significant community support demonstrated on Crowdfunding Alberta.
Campaigns that reach 75 percent of their campaign goal within four
weeks of launching may be eligible for up to $2,500. Click ‘Top-up

Gaga fever is sweeping the nation, but why is everyone going
GAGA over gaga ball?One of the biggest common themes and requests that came out of our student engagement process in the Spring of 2022 as we were designing new outdoor learning spaces for Varsity Acres School, was the desire for a gaga ball court in the school yard. It is with student voice in mind that we are launching our first of many fundraising events, the GIVE IT UP FOR GAGA fundraiser.
This
fast-moving, high-energy game is capturing the attention of kids
across the nation as they run, jump, dodge and strike their way to
gaga glory! Gaga ball is a form of dodgeball that is played with a
soft-foam ball in an octagon or hexagon-shaped court or “pit”. The
goal is to eliminate players by striking them with the ball below the
knees, with the last player in the court crowned the GAGA champ!
The benefits of a game like gaga ball is that is provides a healthy way for children to get exercise, play with peers, enjoy healthy competition, and participate in an activity that does not require a specialized skill set or athletic abilities. However, the game still helps develop good athletic skills, like throwing, catching, eye-hand coordination, and agility, and social skills like teamwork and cooperation.
It is known as the “great equalizer” and can be enjoyed by children of all ages. It is also a game with many variations that supports accessibility, creativity and participation across the grades.

Building the gaga ball court in the Varsity field is the first project we are undertaking as a school community. It is part of the larger Outdoor Learning Lab Campaign and we need your support to make this vision a reality!
