​About Alberta Dachshund Rescue

Alberta Dachshund Rescue (ADR) is a non-profit organization with the purpose of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dachshunds in need. We are a network of experienced rescue people with a strong representation across the province. We envision a time when every dachshund in Alberta has a loving home for its entire life.

Finding fur-ever homes one wiener at a time...

We do our best to support and work with an owner to help them find a way to keep their dog, but when it comes down to the bottom line, we will always take a dog in. ADR has had some tough cases - dogs that were literally on their last legs and with little hope - but with the phenomenal support received from supporters of ADR, almost all of our dogs have been able to go on to find their forever homes.

​ADR has never said no to someone needing to surrender their dachshund

Some of the dachshunds coming into ADR's care have been abandoned or mistreated. Some of them have been malnourished or have serious health issues. Others have for good reason, developed a mistrust of humans. And some of our dachshunds come from loving homes, from owners with circumstances that have changed and prevent them from keeping them any longer. We provide veterinary care to bring surrendered dogs back to health and behavioral therapy to restore their faith in people before we offer them for adoption.

Alberta Dachshund Rescue needs your support!

ADR is a non-profit registered charitable organization with no paid employees. All funds come from donations, fund raising, grants, and our modest adoption fee. Every penny goes into providing care for the dogs that need us - wellness exams, spay/neuter, dental care, vaccines, lab tests, ultra sounds, x-rays, surgery, physical & manual therapy, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, emergency care and more...
