Vohon Ukrainian Dance Ensemble, going into its 38th year, is committed to preserving & promoting Ukrainian dance by connecting dancers that share a passion for Ukrainian dance to audiences locally and beyond. In honour of this mission, we are thrilled to bring our newest production to the stage - SVITLO: Discover the Light Within.

The show is a powerful and immersive dance theatre production that explores the resilience of the Ukrainian spirit through movement, music, and myth. It introduces a brand-new Canadian-Ukrainian dance theatre work, blending contemporary and traditional elements to tell a story inspired by Ukrainian folklore and the country’s centuries-long fight for identity. The show also celebrates Ukraine’s rich cultural heritage with vibrant ensemble performances and special guests, Gerdan Theatre, one of Ukraine’s most globally recognized folk ensembles.

Ukraine has long celebrated artists as national heroes, and the arts have played a crucial role in cultural resistance and identity preservation. SVITLO continues this legacy, showcasing the resilience and spirit of the Ukrainian people through dance, music, and storytelling. This project is a collaborative effort between Canadian-Ukrainian and Ukrainian artists, emphasizing the strength of the global Ukrainian community and its contributions to the arts.
