At the THIRD ACTion Film Festival, we believe in the power of film to do more than entertain—it can open hearts, shift perspectives, and change lives.

Through unforgettable films and thoughtful conversations, we bring generations together and celebrate the strength, complexity, and potential of older adults. We shine a spotlight on older people as resilient, resourceful, and fascinating—showing us all how vibrant and varied the third act of life can truly be.

But powerful storytelling needs support.

It’s still shockingly rare to see older adults—especially those who are women, racialized, LGBTQ2S+, or living with disabilities—represented authentically in media. We actively seek out and showcase films that reflect the full diversity of aging. And we reward the creators who make them.

This year, we’re doing more than ever:

• Paying filmmakers fair licensing fees

• Hosting a Canadian Senior Filmmaker Showcase and a Canadian Student Filmmaker Showcase

• Offering prize money and laurels to exceptional filmmakers

• Presenting awards for resilience and audience favourites

• Expanding our festival programming to reach more people in more places
