Celebrating 25 Years

Since our inception as a non-profit charitable organization in 1999, NUOVA Vocal Arts (formerly Opera NUOVA) has offered artistic programming that serves both the local community and the nationwide music community. We have successfully served our mandate to bridge the gap between academia and the professional world of opera and music theatre, achieving an impressive roster of alumni who are performing in the most prestigious opera houses and music theatre venues around the world. To date we have a roster of over 1400 alumni and 25 of the 80 Indie Arts organizations in this country are founded by NUOVA alumni.

Over the years, we are proud to have programmed a plethora of unique productions (93 productions in 24 years), focused on producing musical experiences that serve to further develop the talent base of our emerging artists, as they grow their experience by performing a wide range of works. This priority allows our organization to push the envelope; create interest, diminish the barrier for entry into the art form and thus, promote the health and wellbeing of the urban community. We foster long standing relationships with our audiences by offering a profound variety of musical works that fuel the appetite of opera connoisseurs and musical theatre fans, while also appealing to those who are new to live musical performance experiences. In 1999,  there were no programs in Canada focused on young emerging artists who needed to develop their skills beyond their academic exposure. NUOVA is now considered by Universities and arts organizations across Canada as an essential training platform.

As we enter into our 25th year we have big plans to celebrate the past 25 years, and look forward to our future as an arts company in Edmonton and beyond! Our goal is to produce 3 mainstage shows in our Arts Season, as well as 5 mainstage productions in our annual Vocal Arts Festival!

That's where you come in! To celebrate 25 years is exciting, but also a costly endeavour. As a non-profit organization, we rely heavily on grants, foundations and donors to aid in our company being able to produce such high calibre works.

We are launching November 1st, and must raise at least $5,000 within 8-weeks (December 27th)  on the platform. Once this threshold is reached, the Government will match 30 cents from each dollar raised up to $1,000 per donor and $15,000 per campaign!
