What a brave little soul! We don't know how Emori received such a traumatic injury - the bottom half of one of her back legs had been recently severed. It would have made it impossible to fend for herself, never mind her three kittens, who all showed up suddenly in a residential neighbourhood. Somehow, she had managed to move her little family to the safest place she could find, under someone's front steps. They were all starving. She was young, barely past the kitten stage herself and already pregnant again.
Emori's partial leg stump was a painful impediment. Our veterinarian recommended removing the entire limb for the best outcome. The full amputation took place on January 23, 2024, a few weeks after she had weaned her second litter. She is doing very well on her three good legs which, of course, is not new for her. She's had to ambulate that way since her injury in the summer of 2023.
Unfortunately, major surgeries such as Emori's are very costly. Your donations helps us respond to the needs of injured, abandoned cats and also for life-saving treatment. Recently one of our foster cats, Julien, suffered a urinary blockage and needed emergency care at a twenty-four hour clinic. The veterinary cost for Emori's amputation and Julien's urinary blockage came to $3887.
