In April of 2026, a spirited group of 22 young ladies, along with their dedicated coaches and chaperones, from Taber, Alberta, and its surrounding areas, will embark on a once-in-a-lifetime rugby journey to Ireland. This adventure is designed not only to improve each participant's rugby skills but also to offer a transformative experience that broadens their perspectives and enriches their lives in a variety of ways.
Before embarking on this thrilling adventure, the group, accompanied by their coaches and encouraging families, has worked tirelessly to raise the essential funds. They have engaged in an array of fundraising activities, each displaying their creativity and determination to bring this journey to completion. Along the way, they have discovered that with diligence and perseverance, countless opportunities become attainable.They have taken the time to get to know one another beyond the rugby field, discovering each other’s strengths and talents. As a result, they have formed a cohesive group—one that will undoubtedly take them far during their time on the field.
The young ladies will have the remarkable opportunity to attend an international rugby match. Attending an international rugby match offers significant value through its unique atmosphere, the thrill of live action, and the embodiment of the sport's core values - integrity, respect, solidarity, discipline and passion. As part of developing their rugby skills, the participants will take part in training sessions guided by a coach with international experience. They will also conduct training sessions with the coaching staff of a local rugby club and will have the opportunity to compete in matches against local girls' rugby clubs. Beyond rugby they will have the unique opportunity to learn how to play various traditional Gaelic games, including Gaelic Football, Hurling, and Handball and discover enchanting Irish games. This Ireland Rugby trip is not merely a sporting event; it embodies a cultural exchange and serves as an invaluable opportunity for personal and athletic growth for these aspiring athletes.
In addition to developing their rugby skills, the players will delve into the rich culture and history of Ireland, specifically focusing on the magical cities of Dublin and Galway. The group will explore both the vibrant capital city of Dublin and the picturesque surroundings of Galway. They will immerse themselves in the local culture, taking time to explore the cities' stunning sights, and embark on a day trip to the renowned Aran Islands and the breathtaking Cliffs of Moher.
