Athabasca Nordic Ski and Bike Club hasn't added a story.
Mountain biking is an awesome and growing sport! Outdoor activities, like biking provide tremendous benefits to physical and mental health. But currently there are no purpose-built mountain bike trails in Athabasca County. Bikers here need to drive a considerable distance to find good trails. |
|
| Athabasca Nordic Ski and Bike Club (ANSBC) is working to change that! We've completed a Trail Development Plan for the mountain bike trails. This plan includes 14 km of trails with technical cross-country, flow trails and an adaptive mountain bike trail. There will also be a skills park and a pump track. Before construction begins we need to complete the detailed design work, which is our next step. On June 28, 2025 the ANSBC will be holding a bike-a-thon to raise funds for the detailed design and also to get bikers together for a fun group ride. |
You can help by:
- donating. BTW the Government of Alberta will match 50% of the funds donated to a maximum of $5000.
- registering to participate. Participants will be eligible for a fabulous draw prize from a local sponsor. Hint: Are you in need of a new bike?
- sharing this campaign on social media or emailing it to friends.
Any or all of these will be very helpful and appreciated.
Donors and participants will be updated on the bike-a-thon and on progress with the mountain bike trails.

The Athabasca Nordic Ski and Bike Club (ANSBC) is situated in Athabasca, Alberta. Volunteers from the Club have been maintaining and grooming cross country ski trails in Muskeg Creek Park since the 1980s. We also provide Jackrabbit ski lessons, ski rentals and run a competitive xc ski team.
Our latest initiative is to develop a system of mountain bike trails in Muskeg Creek Park to complement the existing multi-use trails. These purpose built trails will include technical cross country as well as flow trails. There will be an adaptive mountain bike trail as well. In addition to the trails there will be a skills park and a pump track.
