Hopeful Hooves was founded in 2021. In 3 and a half years, our team has grown, as has our ability to be able to accommodate some of the highest needs of horses. We strive on giving the highest quality of care that we can, working closely with our team of vets and farrier. Quality of life is always the top priority.

In the last 3.5 years, thanks to our community of support, we have rescued 63 (66 if you include the unborn babies)horses! We have also managed to start the Peaceful Passing Program, which assists with the dignified passing, for horses who have been thrown away. Every horse matters, and every horse deserves either a chance at rehabilitation, or a humane goodbye, surrounded by a team who cares. We specialize in physical rehabilitation, along with senior horse care, though you will find others in our herd, such as pregnant mares who were set to be slaughtered for dog food! 

95% of our horses, come directly from the slaughter pipeline in Alberta, with the remaining, being owner surrenders. Because we are a small, growing rescue, we try to keep our equine numbers around 15 total, across all foster homes. The cost to care for them, feed them, and vet them properly, is exponential, not taking into consideration, the time that it takes.
