PRESERVING HERITAGE AND BUILDING BRIDGES: A CROWDFUNDING
CAMPAIGN
FOR THE ALBERTA BEACH HERITAGE VILLAGE IN MUSEUM IN LOVING
MEMORY OF
PRISCILLA CARLICK
The Alberta Beach Heritage Village and Museum was embarking on a
significant project to increase their
Indigenous content prior
to the untimely death of their Vice President, Priscilla Carlick. It
was Priscilla's
passion for bridging the Gap between nations and
promoting understanding and compassion that drove
her to chair
this project. She was also a much-loved member of the community always
willing to help out
whoever and whenever she could. In memory of
her legacy, the museum is launching a crowdfunding
campaign to
raise funds that will hopefully help be to complete this important
initiative for Priscilla by the
summer of 2024.
Embracing Indigenous History
Last fall, the Heritage Village recognized the need to enhance
their indigenous content and historical
representation in the
area. Priscilla considered chairing this project, that we named “A
Bridge Between
Two Nations” as one of her proudest achievements.
Partnering with the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation, this
collaborative effort aims to foster a deeper understanding of
the district’s history and highlight the
significance of
indigenous cultures to both indigenous communities and non-indigenous
individuals.
Continuing Priscilla’s Vision:
The museum is determined to carry forward Priscilla's vision and
complete the project that she
approached with unwavering hope
and enthusiasm. By expanding the indigenous content within the
museum, it will serve as a symbol of compassion and friendship,
promoting cultural exchange and
generating greater awareness of
the indigenous heritage in the area.
The Crowdfunding Campaign:
To achieve their goal, the Alberta Beach Heritage Village and
Museum has launched a crowdfunding
campaign. This campaign is
open to everyone who wishes to honor Priscilla's memory and contribute
to
the preservation and celebration of indigenous history in the
area. Donations can be made to the
campaign to support the
Museum's efforts in completing the project.
Spreading the Word:
The success of the crowdfunding campaign relies on the
collective efforts of Priscilla's friends,
acquaintances, and
those touched by her caring spirit. The museum encourages not only
financial
contributions but also helping to spread awareness by
sharing the campaign on social media platforms.
By reaching a
wider audience, the campaign can attract more donations and support,
ultimately bringing
the project to fruition. Our current goal is $5,000.
Tax receipts for donations:
The Alberta Beach Heritage Village and Museum values every
donation, and as a token of appreciation,
any contributions over
$10 will be eligible to receive a tax receipt. This benefit not only
aids donors in
supporting a worthy cause but also provides
potential tax advantages.
