We’re excited to have joined childcare centres across the province and country in providing affordable childcare and are very motivated to use this opportunity, and the growth it provides, to improve our centre and, as always, strive for excellence in the care and facilities we offer you and your kids. Proposal - UPDATE
Since the start of the year, we have been working with families to fundraise in a new way in which a portion of their reduced daycare fees are reinvested in our program supporting upgrades to the physical environment. Through this model, parents can have a direct impact on their child's daycare experience.
So far, with your help, we have raised almost $6,000! With this investment and grant funding that HSCA was able to leverage, we invested $10,000 directly into the Daycare and completed the Blackout Blinds Project.
Recognizing that while childcare costs have recently decreased, other expenses are on the rise, so we are modifying our initial proposal to be more focused and achievable. Will you join us in making this vision a reality?
Playground Resurfacing
Currently the daycare playground has gravel fill with a border to contain it and keep it at required depths for children to play safely on the playground structures. The border is deteriorating, and the gravel needs to be removed and replaced. Upon researching various options, we have concluded that there is a superior option than replacing like with like. The gravel and borders will be completely removed and replaced with an engineered wood fiber. This work is planned to take place during the August shutdown to ensure minimal disruption to the program.
The total cost of this projected is $35,000 and we are already over half-way there! HSCA has secured $17,500 in grant funding, or 50% of the cost of the playground resurfacing. In addition, we have designated a contribution of $8,750 of our own funds toward the project and we need YOU to help us close the gap!

The Province of Alberta will $2500 in matching funds if we can meet our goal in the next 4 weeks! This means, we need families to help us raise $6250 by the end of July.

On average, families are saving at least $480 per month with the implementation of the Affordability grant and if each family contributes an average of $90, we will meet our goal. That means you will still be save almost $400 in the month of July AND you will be making a meaningful contribution to the space your child plays in every day.

We understand that we are in unprecedented times and that the savings from reduced childcare fees may be needed in your own lives, for your own expenses. We are asking that you consider either a one-time or recurring gift of any size that’s affordable to you so that we can work together toward these goals. We believe families will want to improve their daycare; we're asking parents to consider reinvesting a portion of the money they're saving to enhance the daycare experience for their own children and many more children to come.
